As a San Diego native and professional photographer, I’ve spent years discovering the most stunning, versatile, and meaningful spots to photograph everything from family portraits to branding sessions. I love this city with my whole heart—it’s where I was born and raised, where my roots run deep, and where I’ve built a business capturing some of life’s most cherished moments.

Whether you’re planning a family session, a branding shoot, maternity portraits, or just want updated photos in a gorgeous setting, San Diego offers something for everyone.

Below are my favorite San Diego photography locations—places I return to again and again because they never disappoint.

1. Balboa Park – Timeless, Iconic, and Versatile

Balboa Park is a dream for photographers and clients alike. From Spanish Colonial architecture and arched walkways to lush gardens and unique backdrops, there’s no shortage of variety. It’s especially great for branding sessions where you want a mix of elegant and modern vibes—or family sessions that feel classic but full of character.

💡 Pro Tip: Early morning or late afternoon light here is golden, and weekdays are much quieter!

2. Coronado Beach & Hotel del Coronado – Coastal Elegance

Best For: Family sessions, couples, maternity, branding with a beachy vibe

Coronado Beach offers wide sandy shores, epic sunsets, and the iconic red-roofed Hotel del Coronado in the background. It’s a favorite for families who want natural, playful photos by the ocean—or entrepreneurs looking for bright, relaxed branding imagery with California vibes.

3. Del Mar Beach & Seagrove Park – Cliffside Romance Meets Natural Beauty

This location is one of my most requested spots for mini sessions—and for good reason. The weathered white ranch house, rustic wooden fences, and sprawling trees give every session a timeless, grounded feel. It’s also easy to access and kid-friendly.
